Born in Gaithersburg, Maryland on 30th July 1985, Mary Wiseman was always destined for the performing life. Participating in the DC Shakespeare Theatre’s high school outreach program, Mary earned her BFA in Theatre Arts at Boston University, a journey that led to the world-famous Juilliard School, where she was a part of the Drama Division.
While at Boston University Mary performed often on the stage, including roles in Nitzan Halperin's Sow and Weep in 2008, and Ariel Carson's I Wanted it to Have a How & I Wanted it to Have a Verb at Dixons Place in 2011. 2013 saw a stint for the Chautauqua Theater Company and the part of Betsy/Lindsay in Clybourne Park. Mary made her Broadway debut in 2015 in Thérèse Raquin as Suzanne alongside fellow Broadway debutant Keira Knightly.
Workshops have included PS 122, The Public, Soho Rep, and New York Theatre Workshop.
All of this groundwork led to her TV career which began in 2012 and Craft & Burn as 'senior server' and continued to Three Dates in 2014 as Stacey, Difficult People, the role of Shannon in The Characters both in 2016, the TV series Longmire in 2016 as Nurse Meg Joyce and Baskets in 2017 as Trinity. Her latest film, Health to the King, is currently in post-production.
Her rising star led to her most famous role, that of Sylvia Tilly, the young chatterbox cadet on the CBS series Star Trek: Discovery. Ever present in the debut season, Tilly has the distinction of not only sharing quarters with the lead, Michael Burnham but also for being the first character in Star Trek history to drop the 'F' bomb. Mary has also had the pleasure of portraying her Mirror Universe counterpart, the villainous Captain Sylvia Tilly in the second half of Discovery's debut season.
We’re thrilled to welcome Mary Wiseman to Destination Star Trek Germany.
